“Well being” has been defined as the absence of physical or mental disease. However, numerous studies link “happiness” to the global improvement of health indicators (it obviously reduces chances of depression and other psychological condition but apparently also reduces vulnerability to cancer and heart diseases.)

Happiness and other social / economic issues

“Happiness” has been linked to better educational achievements and work performances, higher stability in families and communities, and increased civic engagement and participation in the democratic process.
