Is it all about context?

How do you factor contextual and environmental elements in “happiness” measurements?

  • What are the impact of general economic trends, natural disasters, war, political crisis or other dramatic events on individuals and communities’ happiness ?
  • How do populations’ mobility and access to other places, sources of information, “happiness models” and thus expectations, affects their general sense of happiness?
  • How do individual demographics such as gender, age, race, educational attainments, social and economic level, but also heritage and life history (religion, “culture”, experiences) and insertion in inter personal networks (family, friends, neighbors, other communities…) affects their sense of happiness?
